“Lucy Does a TV Commercial”, Season 1, Episode 30, Filmed 3/28/52, Aired 5/5/52

Today is a big day, this is my FAVORITE “I Love Lucy” episode!!!! The first time I watched this, I had NEVER laughed so hard in my life. Then when I got to college, American Musical and Dramatic Academy, I did “Vitameatavegamin” as a monologue. It is one of my favorite performances of my life. I have never made people laugh so much and I lived for every moment of it! think at that moment, I realized how magical Lucy is, and the power of laughter therapy. I would be doing “Vitameatavegamin” at 8 am on a Monday morning and I still could make people laugh. I also started collecting nicknacks of this episode. It is now officially band from AMDA, to many people wanted to do it, last time I checked.
Ricky is going to do a TV show and they need a girl to do the girl commercial. Lucy weasels her way into getting the commercial. She does commercial for Vitameatavegamin, a vitamin supplement that has 23% alcohol. After many rehearsals, Lucy gets drunk.
If you’ve never seen it, YOU MUST!! On the blog “Everything Lucy” has a little trivia about my favorite episode. “Maury Thompson, the script clerk, played himself. A good deal of time and effort was expended by stage manager Herb Browar to find just the right liquid concoction to fill the Vitameatavegamin bottles. It had to ooze out of the bottle, not flow freely, plus it had to taste good to Lucy. After trying and dismissing a half-dozen products, including honey, Browar stopped off at a health food store on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood and found the perfect liquid: apple pectin. Lucy loved the taste, and they proceeded to fill the bottles with it on dress rehearsal day.” Once you see it, you would never have guessed she liked it. What an amazing actresses! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m1Nubw8XJw&feature=related
